A leading multi model logistics business is looking for a Transport Manager to join their Skelmesdale site. As Transport Manager you will be responsible for the running of the Transport team including planners, admin staff and drivers. The role will focus on managing the team; planning pallets and freight; and ensuring commercial viability of all movements. 

As Transport Manager you will be responsible for the efficient and safe running of the transport function. You will be required to monitor all driver activity ensuring that KPIs are met, health and safety adhered too and all legal compliance is in order. You will be required to assist with driver inductions; monitoring of the fleet and the health and safety practices. The role is a very hands on role and as well as overseeing the day to day operations you will manage a team of Planners and Administrative staff. 

The role will also have a commercial focus monitoring relationships with customers; optimising routes and monitoring profitability. The role will also require substantial administrative duties such as legal compliance; driver wages and running regular KPIs reports in regard to driver performance; fleet maintenance and general efficiency including eco-driving.

The ideal candidate will have worked as a Transport Manager previously with experience working with a HGV fleet and both permanent and self employed drivers. A National or International CPC licence is desired but not essential for the role. This will be a very hands on role and will require someone who is organised; able to lead a diverse team and previous experience dealing with driver administration.

On offer is a salary of £32,000 - £37,000 per annum and the opportunity to join a growing business. The company can be flexible on working hours and it will always be a day shift requirement. They can either facilitate a 4 on 4 off shift pattern or a permanent Thursday - Monday shift; both 48 hours per week operating days.
