      IT Solution Architect

      Location: Letchworth Garden City Salary: £65,000

      Key duties and responsibilities

      The key duties and responsibilities fall into six domains:

      • Enterprise Architecture Initiatives - lead cross-functional teams to deliver specific architecture initiatives, including business, application, data, technology and integration architecture.
      • Technology Strategies, Architectures and Roadmaps - lead the analysis and documentation of current landscapes, creating future state architectures and roadmaps.
      • Ongoing Architecture Management - creation and management of architecture artefacts and lower level components.
      • Technology Innovation - understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies, applying this understanding to future state architectures.
      • Leadership & Engagement - engage with senior business stakeholders on recommended architectures and solutions and provide thought leadership to the IT organisation.
      • Governance - contribute to, adhere to and advocate the enterprise architecture principles, guidelines, standards and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.

      Enterprise Architecture Initiatives

      • Working with ETEL business and IT stakeholders on specific architecture initiatives across the business, application, interface, data, technology and integration domains to:
        • understand and model desired business outcomes and capabilities (current & future state), developing business requirements.
        • understand and model the data requirements required to support the business outcomes.
        • design and then lead the implementation of the future state architecture and road-maps working closely with project and development teams who will deliver the specific projects, applications and technologies to realise the future state.
        • design the future-state integration landscape, ensuring integration designs exploit modern technical best practice.
        • lead the solution analysis and selection process, working with colleagues across the business, IT, suppliers and partners.
        • lead the creation of the business case.
        • regularly engage with senior business stakeholders throughout the review process including meetings, presentations and reports to ensure buy-in to proposed strategies, architectures and solutions.

      Technology Strategies, Architectures and Roadmaps

      • Working with IT and business colleagues, lead the analysis and documentation of current solution landscapes, including identifying current and future opportunities and deficiencies.
      • Defining, documenting and gaining buy in to solution strategies, future state architectures and the roadmaps to achieve them.
      • Lead the analysis, selection and business case creation for specific, agreed solutions which advance the architecture roadmaps, working with colleagues across the business and IT, and with 3rd party suppliers and partners.
      • Oversee and facilitate the research, evaluation, and selection of  technology solutions.

      Ongoing Architecture Management

      • Creation, maintenance and management of IT architecture artefacts and their lower level components across the business, application, integration, data, technology and infrastructure domains.
      • Interpreting, utilising and applying information from IT architectural artefacts and applying them to the development of business solutions.
      • Share best practices, lessons learned and constantly updates the technical system architecture requirements based on changing technologies, and knowledge related to recent, current and upcoming vendor products and solutions.
      • Use of corporate enterprise architecture tooling.

      Technology Innovation

      • Researches, reviews, tests, trials and implements innovative technology driven ideas, working with vendors, partners and colleagues across the ETEL business. 
      • Ensures innovative solutions and technologies are considered in all initiatives, future state architectures and roadmaps.

      Leadership & Engagement

      • Provides thought leadership to the ETEL IT organisation regarding new relevant new and innovative technologies and architectures.
      • Identifies and recommends areas appropriate for further study and participates in any “Proof of Concept” projects required to thoroughly investigate architectural and innovative possibilities and strengthen arguments for their adoption. Engages with senior business stakeholders to communicate strategies, plans and business cases, gaining buy in.
      • Promotes the Group IT vision, strategy and transformation programme to IT and business unit leaders and staff.
      • Ensures a high level of business engagement, stakeholder relationships and team working, creating strong links with the business.

      Governance

      • Recommends and participates in the design and implementation of standards, tools and methodologies.
