      graduate sales

Interviews can often be daunting, especially for those with very little interview experience.

A career in graduate sales can be very rewarding for those who thrive in a fast paced working environment. Those who excel can soon find themselves benefiting from a commission based pay structure.

So how can you secure yourself a job within a sales environment? In order to help you succeed at interview stage, we have devised some of interview questions you can expect, when applying for a graduate sales role.

What motivated you to choose a job in graduate sales?

What the employer is really wanting to know is, where do you get your motivation from?

Motivation comes from many different areas. It could be the determination to provide for your family. Or it could come from your natural competitive nature. Try and tailor your answer in line with the company values and goals. Which is something you should definitely research beforehand. It will certainly impress your prospective employer.

      How do you handle rejections?

Rejection plays a huge part within any sales role. After all, you can’t expect every phone call or meeting to result in a sale. Even the most experienced sales people go through bad patches.

This question is looking at how you process and overcome rejection. It is very easy when dealing with rejection, to lose confidence in yourself and your abilities. Therefore, you should focus your answer on learning from your mistakes.

Why do you think you will be successful in sales?

To answer this question, try using the STAR technique. STAR stands for situation, task, action and result. Make sure to back your reasons with evidence from past experiences. This could be professional, academic or non-academic.

Make sure you highlight your best attributes, whether it be persistence, the drive to succeed or your tenacity.
